Italy’s premier professional football league, La Liga Serie A, has announced the opening of its first office in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Abu Dhabi. It is headed by Alfonso De Stefano, an accomplished executive who has worked for Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Media for over two decades.

A video capturing the arrival of Italian football in the UAE has been launched in partnership with XDubai, the leading adventure and extreme action sports hub in the UAE. Several of the league’s top teams skydive over the UAE, donning their respective jerseys against the backdrop of the country’s most famous destinations, with soccer legend Christian Vieri at the controls.

Leading up to the sale of its television broadcasting rights, Lega Serie A announced earlier this month that it would embark on a six-month global roadshow across five continents. In the MENA region, which includes the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Morocco, Abu Dhabi Media and Starzplay hold exclusive streaming rights for Serie A matches.
